Tom Long: 'Pareidolia'

ATiO Gallery, 2 Parson's Court, Cambridge, CB2 3QE11 - 18 October 2026, 11:00 - 15:00

We are delighted to announce the details of the second of our prize-winning recipients of a solo exhibition at ATio Gallery in Central Cambridge. This was one of two prizes awarded in a new partnership with the gallery (which is also new to Cambridge), to MA Fine Art students in respect of their outstanding work in the MA Fine Art Graduate show.

"Tom's latest body of work focuses on material transformation as both a conceptual framework and material process. Combining natural oxidisation and chemical patination, the work engages with cycles of deterioration and renewal. The four principle alchemical stages: nigredo [blackening], albedo [whitening], citrinitas [yellowing], and rubedo [reddening], provide a conceptual structure through which the interconnected states of decomposition, purification, transformation and transcendence are considered”
Tom's practice has long explored a wide range of materials, objects and found elements, alongside more than twenty years working with digital processes. Through sculpture, print, painting, and digital media, he has developed a multidisciplinary practice that embraces experimentation and an openness to different materials and methods.

Tom attained a BA [Hons] in Fine Art from Falmouth University in 2023, and has recently graduated from an MA in Fine Art at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge. His work has sold both nationally and internationally, and this exhibition is his first solo show in nine years.

Tom Long’s exhibition Pareidolia will be open on 10th-11th and 17th-18th October at ATio gallery, 2, Parson’s Court, Cambridge CB2 3QE (next door to the Corn Exchange).

Opening event: Friday 9th October 7-9pm
